KtC Designs Portfolio
As always, my art is created by hand, by me - Katie, and inspired by the beauty that surrounds us all. Browse an ever-growing collection of over 500 original surface patterns, each designed by hand and inspired by the natural world and the beauty of design history. I work in a painterly, nostalgic style that brings warmth, personality, and a timeless quality to fabric, wallpaper, and home décor. The collection spans a range of aesthetics and motifs.
Nature lovers will find painterly botanicals, wildflower collages, garden florals, cottage flowers, vining leaves, and delicate insects — all with that hand-drawn, watercolor quality that makes them feel gathered rather than manufactured. For the grandmillennial and cottagecore decorator, there are vintage florals, floral block prints, toile de jouy, chinoiserie-inspired designs, damask, folk art, and heritage revival patterns that feel both nostalgic and fresh. Geometric and Art Deco enthusiasts will find bold Art Nouveau motifs, 1920s-inspired patterns, lattice, diamond, hexagonal, and checkered designs alongside mid-century and retro-inspired prints. Coordinates and blenders round out nearly every collection — ticking stripes, gingham, classic plaids, tonal solids, and companion textures designed to layer and mix beautifully.
Beyond the core florals and botanicals, my shop extends into coastal and nautical patterns, animal motifs including birds, butterflies, bees, and big cats, celestial and night sky designs, seasonal collections spanning spring through winter, and novelty prints with a whimsical, playful spirit. Whether you're designing a maximalist grandmillennial bedroom, a cozy cottagecore living room, a moody jewel-toned accent wall, or a simple nursery, there is a pattern here for the space you are creating.

faq
What is art licensing?
Art licensing is an agreement that allows a company or manufacturer to use my original designs on their products in exchange for a fee or royalty. When you license artwork, the designer retains ownership of the original design. Essentially you are paying a fee to “rent” my artwork for a specified period of time. This may be exclusive or non-exclusive depending on the agreement and period of time may vary.
What is exclusive vs. non-exclusive licensing?
A non-exclusive license allows a design to be licensed to multiple companies or sold through multiple platforms at the same time.
An exclusive license grants one company the sole right to use a specific design for an agreed-upon period of time, territory, or product category. Usage limitations are negotiated and agreed upon by all parties. As the designer, I reserve the right of usage in non-competing categories. Ex - a pattern is licensed for children’s bedding; I reserve the right to license in a different category such as wallpaper, stationary or kitchen textiles.
At the end of the term, you will have the first opportunity to renew the design. If you decide not to re-license, then the rights to the design revert back to me.
How much does a license cost?
Licensing fees are bespoke and based on a number of factors — the intended use, product category, print run or distribution size, exclusivity, and length of the agreement. Every project is a little different, and I believe in finding terms that work well for both parties.
Who owns the copyright?
I do, always. As the original creator of every design in this portfolio, I retain full copyright to all artwork. Licensing grants you the right to use a design within the agreed-upon terms, it does not transfer ownership of the artwork itself. All designs remain the intellectual property of Katie Coffman / KtC Designs.
Can colors be customized?
For most designs, yes! The majority of my patterns are created as vector files, which makes colorway adjustments straightforward. I'm happy to discuss what's possible for a specific design. Reach out with your vision and we'll go from there.
Are your patterns seamless?
Yes! All surface patterns in this portfolio are designed as seamless repeats, meaning they tile continuously without visible seams or breaks.
What file format is received?
File format is determined based on your production needs. Most designs can be provided in CMYK or RGB and delivered as a layered file in PSD, PNG, or JPEG. Just let me know what your printer or manufacturer requires and I will get you set up with the right files.
